How Geosportle works

The basics

  • Five sports moments every day, the same five for everyone.
  • For each one, tap the globe where it happened, then slide to the year.
  • The closer your pin and your year, the more points you score.
  • New questions drop at midnight UK time. Your progress survives a refresh.
  • Play every day to build a streak; miss a day and it resets.

How each question is scored

Every question is worth up to 100 points: 70 for where and 30 for when.

Within 10 km is full marks. The curve is steep at first and softens with distance, so a continental miss still scores something.

When: the exact year scores 30. Each year off costs 3 points (1 off → 27, 3 off → 21, 5 off → 15, 10 off → 0). The slider runs from 1870 to the current year.

Later questions are worth more

Questions are multiplied ×1, ×1, ×2, ×3 and ×3. A perfect day is 100 + 100 + 200 + 300 + 300 = 1,000 points.

Leaderboard, groups and practice

  • The top 50 scores of the day, ties broken by time from first clue to last guess.
  • Groups are private leaderboards for up to 50 friends: create one and share the invite link.
  • Practice rounds (random questions by sport, or replays of previous days) are scored but never ranked and never affect your streak.
  • No account needed: to keep your streak on another device, use “Get a code” in Settings.
